How to Invest Money in Real Estate
Consider Real Estate Syndication
There are numerous ways one can invest money in real estate. Most of the methods require quite a bit of hands-on effort, i.e. finding the property, hiring a property manager, interviewing and placing tenants, working with contractors, keeping the books. Read More . . .
18 Entrepreneurs Describe Their Average Day
I’m a Type A personality so I struggle to keep a balance between work and play. I try to sleep until 6 (most times I fail). I hit my desk around 7:30 (after watching the morning news – not sure why I do that – and getting ready). First thing I do is set my priorities – what do I need to get done today . . . no matter what! I start working to get them done. If I’m successful, the pressure is off. If not, . . . well I keep working. I take about a 1/2 hour for lunch and try not to work while eating (again, most times I fail). At 5:00 I call it quits. Hopefully I have done the have-to-do’s by then, but if not, tomorrow is another day!
While big firms have pluses, some lawyers prefer to go solo
After working for a year as a tax attorney, Nancy Chillag joined San Francisco law firm Cooper, White & Cooper, in 1986. Unlike Messrs. Mount and Bremond, who thrive as corporate attorneys, Ms. Chillag, 43, says she didn’t like working at a large firm. As an associate in a firm that had 40 to 50 attorneys, Ms. Chillag says she didn’t have much say in which clients she represented. READ MORE . . .
Same-sex couples still burdened with estate costs despite US Supreme Court ruling
Because Wednesday’s ruling promises to honor each state’s individual definition of marriage, couples who enjoy federal benefits in California might immediately lose them should they resettle in another state. They could even lose those benefits while traveling, she warns. If Farrell and her fiancee hadn’t arranged for a medical power of attorney, they could have been out of luck if one was struck by a car while vacationing in, say, Indiana. Chillag says these issues loom heavily for same-sex couples on the Peninsula, since so many people work for high-tech companies that require them to transfer to other states. READ MORE . . .
Realtors: Tell clients about legal issues
Realtors are being asked to remind their clients about potential legal issues that could affect their transactions. Nancy Chillag of Chillag and Associates touched on some of these issues in a recent talk to the Silicon Valley Association of Realtors.
More and more distressed homeowners are turning to strategic foreclosures as a way out of their financial dilemmas. Faced with an underwater mortgage, these homeowners are not making house payments and simply walking away from their homes. Chillag says these homeowners should beware of an IRS bill. READ MORE . . .

Fixer-Upper Project Prioritization
Everyone thinks a kitchen remodel is super expensive, but it doesn’t have to be. The Home Depot cabinets can look great. There are discount granite shops that will cut and install your countertop for much less than the high-end showroom places. I flip houses in California and can get an entire kitchen remodel for under $12,000,” says Nancy Chillag of 23rd Street Investors. READ MORE . . .
We Take the Hassle Out of Investing
Real Estate investing can be very lucrative. Even for investors on a low budget, 23rd Street Investors offers investment opportunities that produce greater benefits, while minimizing the typical risks and hassles associated with owning real estate.
Investors are attracted to real estate because of the ability to obtain higher returns and diversify their portfolios. While searching through hundreds of properties is implausible for a typical investor, partnering with a company that has the resources to scan the U.S. market and choose the winning properties is a great solution. Real estate investments have the potential to deliver high profits, reduce taxes and generate wealth. Selecting a real estate provider who works with a winning team with a proven track record reduces the risks in this volatile market.
